Surf on the crest of digitization

The wave of digitization is sweeping smart wearables, chatbots, neural networks, artificial intelligence, cloud-based warehouse management and predictive analytics right into the world of logistics as well. Arvato Systems is sending a team of experts to CeMAT 2018 to showcase successful approaches to integrating these technologies.

The international IT specialist Arvato Systems, a member of the Bertelsmann Group, employs a workforce of over 3,000 staff at more than 25 bases worldwide to help businesses get to grips with the digital revolution. A team of the company’s IT experts is attending CeMAT 2018 in Hannover to showcase its Arvato Smart Logistics Platform (ASLP) – a Logistics 4.0 solution aimed at closing the digitization gaps in the supply chain – and reveal how SAP warehouse management (SAP WM) can be upgraded easily to the next generation.

Under the banner “Supply Chain Solutions for Digital Leaders”, the experts from Arvato Systems will be offering advice on integrating state-of-the-art technologies into existing supply chain processes to ride on the crest of digitization. “Logistics 4.0 stands for networking, information transparency and systems that make automated and decentralized decisions, with no integration gaps,” says Bernd Jaschinski-Schürmann, Head of Supply Chain Consulting & Digitalization at Arvato Systems. He makes it his business to pinpoint exactly what’s required: “You need the correct configuration of processes, smart technologies and innovative IT solutions – taking the entire supply chain into account and connecting individual players and components – to create added value for customers! Our intensive work on the latest trends and technologies in logistics led us to develop the Arvato Smart Logistics Platform,” he explains. The ASLP is designed as a versatile, modular digital system for digitizing both individual logistics processes (in storage, production, transportation and retail) and entire process chains between companies.

Another headliner at the stand is the five-phase factory approach that Arvato Systems has developed as a simple and effective solution for upgrading SAP® Warehouse Management (SAP WM) to SAP® Extended Warehouse Management (SAP EWM). The experts have worked hard on creating a straightforward transition from the current Enterprise Resource Planning System SAP® ERP 6.0 to its successor SAP® S/4HANA.
