Both the EKX 516 narrow-aisle truck and the ERE 120/125/225 electric ride-on pallet truck from Jungheinrich won awards in the vehicle category. Having already been recognized in the IFOY Awards 2016, the iF Design Awards 2017 and the Best of Industry Awards 2017, this fourth accolade for the EKX 516 has made it a benchmark in its class. The Red Dot Design Award is presented annually by an international panel of independent designers, design professors and trade journalists to products with a high-quality design that makes them stand out from the more than 5,500 submissions.

The foundations for the Hamburg-based company’s latest successes were laid in 2016, when Jungheinrich launched a new design concept for all its products. A new Jungheinrich grey was introduced in addition to the familiar Jungheinrich yellow in a uniform color distribution. Since 2016, all models have also had a sleeker design, with operating functions and model markings emphasized in a distinctive green. "As we see it, design covers more than our products' appearance," explains Michael Niebuhr, Head of Industrial Design at Jungheinrich AG. "It's the face of our company, part of our success story and the visual expression of quality and innovation. In 2016, we redefined the design concept of Jungheinrich vehicles to create a distinctive product design for the future. The striking new design is intended to consistently reflect the technical and ergonomic quality of our products," he adds.
