Mobile devices for distributed data acquisition and communication are an integral part of infrastructures based on RFID. The RFID Wristband was developed for this - specifically for applications in which items are handled directly, e.g. order picking and delivery.
The RFID Wristband is designed so that the antenna at the wrist identifies items without any additional steps while keeping the wearers' hands free. Data between the wristband and the transponder on an item flows into the handling process automatically. This eliminates additional steps to write and read RFID data required by conventional handheld devices.
Standardized wireless interfaces such as ZIGBee connect the RFID Wristband to higher-level systems, thus making it widely usable. These interfaces transmit any data read with the wristband to a higher-level system where software customized for the specific application displays other functions such as documentation of handling processes.
On CeMAT Fraunhofer IFF together with Ubimax presents an integrated solution of the RFID Wristband with Smart Glasses. The data glasses project the work orders. The referring picking or storing process is automatically controlled and confirmed by the RFID Wristband.
