Product description

One of the new products EuroSort Systems is introducing at the Cemat 2011will be a new revolutionary infeed system for the EursoStort flatsorter and especially for the web-shop applications.
More and more sales is done via the web and many suppliers have therefore a large increase in orders; however compared to the traditional sorter applications where the average order is around 30 articles, the web shops have orders with a very low number of order-lines .g. 1,6 per order. These kind of orders need either a sorter with a high number of exits (space limitations) or consolidated sorting (so 1 chute with several orders in it).
EuroSort thought of a way to achieve, in a relatively short sorter (let us say 80 meters), a high number of destinations. On the part below the sorter there will be 4 till 8 exits next to each other which on a pitch of 330 mm gives you a e.g. 6 (exits) x 2 (2 sides of sorter) x 3 (per meter) so 36 exits per meter is 2.880 exits on the 80 meters straight length.
So the number of exits is taken care of but now the infeed system --> when having 6 lanes, expensive and complex line diverters as well as conveyors systems are needed to feed the sorter. So EuroSort developed a so-called "moving" deposit positioning system for the induction operators. The operators scan the article, the sorter database will then decide in which tray in the sorter the article will be dropped and to which exit the product will be directed. The dedicated position for this article will be indicated dynamically (see green area in the picture) in the belt itself where the operator should deposit the article. Via the deposit belt, the article will drop in the pre-assigned tray which opens up at the right destination.
The size of exit (chute), the type of tray in the sorter as well as the size of the compartments on the tray are configurable and can have different dimensions so various articles can go to various exits depending on the characteristics.
