LENNIX Charlie is used in ship-to-shore gantry cranes and controls two axes: Hoisting gear and trolley travel. The system has been designed for manual and automatic control of cranes.
LENNIX Charlie is a controller that eliminates load swaying by itself. The controller ensures rapid and safe crane handling operation, relieves the crane operator from stress and reduces the risk of collisions.
LENNIX Charlie uses a high-resolution camera measuring system for exact position detection of the spreader. One passive reflector suited for this
job is provided on the spreader. The speed pre-set by crane operator in manual control is influenced through acceleration and deceleration operations so that resultant load swaying movements during travel and at stop are eliminated automatically. Consequently, rapid and safe positioning is possible.
LENNIX Charlie includes obstacle monitoring for fixed and dynamic obstacles. Fixed obstacles are important parts of the crane or the plant that require protection. Dynamic obstacles are features of the container mountain changing its composition after each loading or unloading operation. While travelling, the system monitors the movements in all axes for definition of the next destination and the applicable route. Fixed and dynamic obstacles can be considered in manual and automatic control. All obstacles are circumnavigated with sufficient distance or the crane stops in front of them. In case laser is used for scanning the container mountain (bay scanning), the result will be additionally incorporated into the management of dynamic obstacles.
LENNIX Charlie includes torsional vibration damping. Trim, list and skew cylinders are used to calm down the torsional vibrations of spreader during handling operation.
