A leading developer and manufacturer of innovative logistics systems, TWI GmbH is increasingly moving beyond its original core market - press and tobacco wholesale businesses - into other market segments. The company from Karlsruhe is looking to use sophisticated solutions to meet the logistics requirements of its customers in all areas in an even more streamlined, flexible and ergonomic way. At CeMAT 2016 in Hannover, TWI is showcasing a variety of pick-by-light, pick-by-voice and pick-by-scan sample projects. The SP-AERO - a horizontal carousel for picking small parts - is also making its debut at CeMAT.
Innovative development of the long-established, tried-and-tested AERO has led to the creation of the Store & Pick SP-AERO - a completely new system for multi-order picking of small and standard parts. The SP-AERO’s tower rotates automatically and has eight levels, each with 30 radially arranged gaps that provide up to 240 storage spaces for small parts a maximum of 400 millimeters long. The tower has a total load capacity of around two metric tons. The key benefit of the SP-AERO is that it significantly reduces legwork for pickers, who can now pack 240 items for 20 deliveries at a time virtually without having to move from the spot. Confirmation of each and every item being removed from the tower and placed on the trolley plus the large illuminated figures on the displays help the picker a great deal, too, which will also dramatically reduce error rates.
