With the EMD 115i, Jungheinrich AG isn’t just taking an attractive high-lift pallet truck to CeMAT 2016 in Hannover but also one that is equipped with state-of-the-art lithium-ion technology. "Our EMD 115i harnesses the narrow installation space of the lithium-ion battery to produce a new shorter vehicle design," explains Dr. Lars Brzoska, Member of the Board of Management Marketing & Sales at Jungheinrich AG, which this year launched a new design concept for its products to systematically highlight their technical and ergonomic quality.
The world’s shortest universal forklift features an exceptionally compact design, a load-bearing capacity of 1,500 kilograms and an extremely small turning radius. These make it ideal for use in trade and warehouses as well as for two- and three-shift operation. The high availability of the EMD 115i is ensured by its lithium-ion battery, which weighs in at just 14 kilograms, has a capacity of 40 ampere hours and can be charged quickly and easily using the integrated charger. Interim charging is thus worthwhile at any time. The lithium-ion batteries developed by Jungheinrich take just half an hour to charge sufficiently to deliver energy for a complete shift. "Over 85 percent of our fleet is already lithium-ion-ready," says Brzoska, announcing that Jungheinrich will be launching further series-production vehicles with lithium-ion technology during the year.
