Picavi GmbH, established in 2013 as a high-tech startup under the name Logcom GmbH, is the first company in the world to launch this kind of innovative pick-by-vision data glasses onto the market. Most of the expert developers at Picavi have decades of practical experience and very detailed knowledge of state-of-the-art intralogistics and the relevant IT, which includes wearable devices. At CeMAT 2016, they are explaining how data glasses can be put to practical use in warehouse logistics.
This new order-picking system is custom-designed for warehouse processes with high picking density and is also ideal for distributing fast-moving consumer goods. Warehouse employees wear mobile WLAN smart glasses with an integrated display in which they only see the information relevant at the time, depending on the context. For example, the type and quantity of goods to be picked are displayed, and a barcode scanner is integrated into the glasses that identifies the correct storage location. Picavi guides workers accurately through the process, also carrying out checks after each process step and making corrections in real time, if necessary. This way, workers no longer have to consult lists and have both hands free for the task at all times. In short, when used in warehouses, Picavi ensures precise and strict process guidance with high pick rates and accuracy.
