While wearables such as data glasses and smartwatches have to some extent been greatly hyped by the media but failed to take off in the consumer sector, things look extremely promising for industrial applications. This success is being driven by the know-how of developers such as Bremen-based Ubimax GmbH, a leading supplier of industrial wearable computing solutions for organizations and companies. The innovative Ubimax products harness technologies such as Google Glass and Vuzix M100 to help improve the speed, quality and flexibility of users’ business processes. As well as customer-specific development services, Ubimax also offers standardized solutions for order-picking, manufacturing and quality assurance – including for Google Glass, as the sole certified partner in Germany. By covering the complete application supply chain – from initial advice and software development to maintenance and support – Ubimax is also a key point of contact for its customers. At CeMAT 2016, the company is showcasing the full range of its developments to date, including xPick for precise picking.
xPick is an innovative "pick-by-vision" fulfillment solution. It supports manual picking, stock placement and retrieval, goods sorting and inventory and shortfall management. xPick leaves both hands free for picking, resulting in increased speed and fewer errors. Additional modules are available for weight checks, barcode scans, localization and voice confirmations and can further help cut error rates significantly. Extensive customization options and zero reliance on electronics in the surrounding area (except WLAN) also make xPick highly flexible.
