Intralogistics is a high-tech industry that needs skilled personnel trained to very high standards. For the first time at CeMAT the TectoYou initiative will be encouraging school-leavers of both sexes to consider training or studying for a career in engineering.
Parties of schoolchildren can register in advance for a TectoYou guided tour of CeMAT, which lasts the whole day. The trained guides establish direct contact with exhibitors ahead of the show and are a mine of information about the companies participating in the TectoYou program and about their in-show displays and products.
The participating schoolchildren get first-hand information about exhibiting compamies through small presentations or by talking to engineers and trainees. The ethos is professional yet informal, and the tours are an ideal way to introduce young people to innovative cutting-edge technologies.
TectoYou is supported by the engineering federation VDMA. As the largest trade show for this branch of industry, CeMAT is the perfect place to bring technology to life for young people. In this professional setting young people view career opportunities in engineering as an exciting and innovative option for their future.
TectoYou brings young people closer to the intralogistics industry at CeMAT (2 to 6 May 2011). The Deutsche Messe youth initiative targets high school and vocational school students and college freshmen to promote their interest in engineering solutions and give them a concrete picture of what it’s like to work in this field. The guided tours program is tailored to entry-level job seekers and students alike who are interested in logistics and the industrial sector for their future careers and who can make their first significant contacts with companies at TectoYou.
The tours by special TectoYou guides take them to exhibition stands of well-known partner companies, who give the young visitors information about future technologies and exciting job opportunities in the industry.
In this way young people gain first-hand experience with what it means to work in intralogistics engineering, while companies at TectoYou connect with young people when they are still actively looking for future career paths.
